A colleague has the following appearing at the top of Internet explorer - looks like assembly language to me. No idea what it means or why it should be there though. Any ideas ? He is worried it may be a virus.

- FCB(COPYRIGHT SYMBOL)[<0>]

thanks

Normally, you would have Micorost Internet Explorer there, so it is more than likely a changed or corrupt entry in the registry.

I would go to Start, Run, type in regedit and hit Enter. In the Registry Editor window, hit F3 to open the search, and type in IE Gobbledegook - FCB©[<0>] and when you find the data, erase it.

If it's corrupt, then it will be a little different, depending on what OS you are using.

BTW, to display a © press and hold the Alt key while you type 0169
Try this:

Close Internet Explorer and Outlook Express.

1. Press the Start button.
2. Press Run.
3. Paste in rundll32.exe iedkcs32.dll,Clear
(This is case sensitive, so better not type it manually)
4. Press OK.
5. Restart Internet Explorer.

This will remove Internet Explorer branding and ought to remove your title bar thingie as well.

Good luck,

WOOHOO Thanks TonyKlein your pasting rundll32.exe iedkcs32.dll,Clear into the run command line worked:D I decided to try that one first as I always prefer to not edit the registry unless I absolutely have to. Thanks to all who replied also. As you can tell by my post count I am new here but I believe I will be coming back fairly often.
Thanks again
