I noticed a problem with my PC when every once in a while an error message comes up that says IE needs to quit. I ran Ad-Aware and Search & Destroy, but neither one of them fixed the problem.

Then, I noticed that sometimes I would get pop-ups while surfing a site I KNOW wouldn't have a pop up ad. Then while searching in google, another window opens and starts heading towards www.didosearch.com and then redirects to an ebay page which has already searched for the exact word I just searched for on google. Very Frustrating.

I have a feeling these two problems are related.

I am usually pretty good with HijackThis logs and keeping up on my AdAware scans, which is why this problem is so frustrating.

Here is my HijackThis Log:

I am having the same problem when using Google to search. A new window opens that is from didosearch.com which shows results from my search terms. I get a dialog box saying that I am about to be redirected and do I want to allow the site to redirect me. It doesn't matter what I do (click no, close the dialog box), I am redirected anyway.

I have also been having a pop up window (while I am browsing sites which I know do not use popups, such as neopets.com, my work email exchange, etc.) that says my computer is at risk, I should buy some antivirus software. When I close the popup, a new window comes up which tells me the download will begin and I should allow my computer to open the file. Of course I do not allow my computer to download the file.

I have ran my norton several times and found nothing, so I am looking forward to see what solutions others can come up with. Maybe the two issues are related?

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

Updating Java:

Download the latest version of Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update

  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.

Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.

Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6-windows-i586.exe to install the newest version.
Re-Start your Computer
