IE beeps at me everytime I open an new IE window. It is really bugging me. I checked under the IE options but couldn't find anything. Is there a way to make this stop?

have you got yahoo messenger installed installed?....if so then you will find you have a built-in pop-up blocker which is beeping letting you know that the page has been blocked

or it could be if you have a theme installed on your computer the theme could have sounds for IE..as i have experienced in the past.

No theme, no yahoo messenger. The beep is exactly when a new window is opened. I did switch from the XP blue to the XP Silver, but I don't think that should make a huge difference.

Go to the Control Panel and open the Sounds and Audio Devices applet. Select the Sounds tab there and look for the entry "Start Navigation" (under the Explorer menu). Select that and set the sound to "none".

I think this is what you are hearing.
