Lately I have been annoyed by an IE address bar problem. Whenever I open a website in a new window the address bar will not show the address... instead it shows an image. Below I have given an example:


Does anyone know how to correct this???

Hi and welcome to TSG,

I think it would be a good idea to download Hijack This and post a scan log for the experts to take a look at.

Please do this. Click here: http://www.sherrylynn.us/HijackThis.exe to download Hijack This. Save it to it’s own folder (not temporary files or the desktop).
Close all open windows and open HIJACK THIS. Click “Scan”. When the scan is finished (it only takes a second), the scan button will change to “Save Log”. Click on “Save Log” and save it to NotePad. Copy the entire log and paste it here.

DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET, most items that appear in the log are harmless or even needed. Wait for someone to analyze the scan and advise.

I had posted by problem on the forum here about my IE address bar not working properly...Cookie said it might be from New.dot.net. I was able to locate a way to uninstall for new.dot.net's website. They give you three different options.

I had to use the third option, which was to uninstall by downloading the uninstall from their website. I did, and it looked like my problem was solved..my IE address bar was back to normal. I rebooted my computer and now I get this message whenever I reboot:

RUNDLL - C:/PROGRA~1/NEWDOT~1/NEWDOT~2.DLL

I did some research online and found that many others are having the same problem and are loosing their internet connection and some drivers.

Spybot SD recognizes this file and will remove it...but this is only temporary because when you restart your computer...same thing happens. I even went in manually (using run: regedit) and deleted the file...same thing happened.

I tried to contact New.dot.net with a phone number they provided; however, they do not have phone support at this time. (PERFECT!) They suggested that any problems should be sent via e-mail.

I will e-mail them to see if I can get a responce back (I don't think I will), but is there anyone who knows how to get rid of this damn thing??

http://www.cexx.org/newnet.htm - to remove this problem, but it seems that the removal has been taken off due to a lawsuit by New.dot.net!

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these. Close all windows except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"

I did as you said and the damn thing keeps coming back. I don't understand it, I delete the file, yet it comes back when I restart my computer.

The only thing I can think of is that there is something going wrong when my computer restarts. I am using XP and I have to press the "turn off" or the "restart" button twice before the computer will shutdown. The first time I attempt to turn off/log off/restart the computer just hangs there until I do it again.


Any other suggestions?

Run the New.Net removal tool again.

Go here and download Adaware 6 Build 181

Install the program and launch it.

First in the main window look in the bottom right corner and click on Check for updates now and download the latest referencefiles.

Make sure the following settings are made and on -------ON=GREEN

From main window :Click Start then Activate in-depth scan (recommended)

Click Use custom scanning options then click Customize and have these options selected: Under Drives and Folders put a check by Scan within archives and below that under Memory and Registry put a check by all the options there.

Now click on the Tweak button in that same window. Under Scanning engine select Unload recognized processes during scanning and under Cleaning Engine select Let windows remove files in use at next reboot

Click proceed to save your settings.

Now to scan just click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it.(Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and click Next)

Restart your computer.

Then go here and download Spybot Search & Destroy.

Install the program and launch it.

Before scanning press Online and Search for Updates .

Put a check mark at and install all updates.

Click Check for Problems and when the scan is finished let Spybot fix/remove all it finds marked in RED.

Restart your computer.

Come back here and post another Hijack This log and we'll get rid of what's left.

Did you run the New.Net removal tool again?

Let's try and see if CWShredder will remove the My Find hijack.

Click here to download CWShredder. Close all browser windows,UnZip the file, click on the cwshredder.exe then click "Fix" (Not "Scan only") and let it do it's thing.

When it is finished restart your computer.

HOLY JESUS IT'S GONE!!! lol ..... I never downloaded Adware when you had advised because I already have it on my computer. I was thinking maybe it needed to be updated and what do you know, Adware found the file and deleted it!!!!! woohoo!! I restarted my computer and that annoying little pop up did not come back..

Thank you for all your help flrman1!! Now I have to figure out how to make my computer shut down properly and all my little bugs will be fixed. I believe I saw a post on here with someone having the same shut down problem.

Let's try this one more time.

Run Hijack This again and put a check by these. Close all windows except HijackThis and click "Fix checked"
