Hi everyone;

I am just wondering how i can go about making my computer run better? are there any programs that i can run, or anything that i can do that will really go through and clean out all the crap?

i have tried defragmenting and doing disk cleanup, those helped kinda but my computer is just running slower than it used to and i would like to fix that.

thanks!

hi,........a great program to try,.......which will clean out everything junk and unneeded is a program from www.iolo.com called "system mechanic 4"
its free to download for a trial of a month fully functional and it clears junk files,... broken links, malware and parasites,... temporary files and internet tracks. it also cleans your registry and various other things........like a defragmenter and all.

try it out and have ur pc twice as quick as ur mates :) http://www.iolo.com/downloads.cfm

also try out the spybot search and destroy,....
the best cleanser of spyware,.... they can be largely responsible for your sluggish pc.....especially if you havent ever cleaned it out before !

let us know ur results and best o luck to ya !!

My pick is TuneUp Utilities. Also has a one month trial period.
It has a very simple user interface, but does alot and very easily.

Its great for disk,registry and temp file cleaning, excellently repairs incongruities like erroneous histories, and runs smoothly alongside free versions of spybot and ad-aware which are also essential ;~note there's a webpage somewhere which describes how to set up both of these customised and super efficient; some1 here likely can post it]. regularly see if they need updates too!

Also if you use IE, go to Tools/Internet Options/Privacy/Advanced and then put a tick in the 'override auto cookie' handling box, go to the 'Third Party 'column and select the Prompt option-- doing that I found out the source from where many of the junky Spying cookies that pile up in the caches start from. Since then, my Spybot hasn't sniffed out any culprits for me to zap, and as someone sez "it's a good thing."
