I wish to Install / Add the NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol
but it does not show as an available Protocol in the dropdown list in XP and I
can't figure out how to get it into the list.

Can anyone help please?

I don't think I'm using Novell
I have a laptop connected to a PC they both have Windows XP and a game I am installing requires a IPX connection but on both systems the NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol is not listed only the first option Network Monitor Driver is there.

I see it when I select properties of my network connection on this stock XP-SP2 configuration.

Control Panel, Network Connections, Local Area Connection, Properties, Install, Protocol.

Thank you but no matter how I try the NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol does not show in the list of protocols available on my computers running XP I have been through the add / install protocol screens a few times but it is never listed there.

Now one line of thought is that I have a firewire direct cable connection and a Ethernet connection between the computers and I know it firewire does not support IPX so maybe that cancels the NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol out altogether so I will disconnect / disable the firewire and use the Ethernet only and see if the NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol appears.

Regards

I've never networked with Firewire, so maybe that is the issue. I have always seen it show up on everything from W98 through XP using Ethernet.

Thank you
The firewire has been an awsome file transfer mode for mee but alas it did cancel out IPX Protocol as an option so as soon as I pulled the firewire then IPX protocol popped back in the menu for other connections to use.

Regards and Happy New Year
