Hi, I am needing some advice for my poor computer. This is the scenario: I constantly have spyware on here and I have 2 programs running constantly to block it but they dont. I have Norton Antivirus 2007 and a free download from Microsoft, I forget the name. By mid-day my comp is running super slow if I"ve been on the internet so I run Ad-AWare and Spybot(Both free versions) and they always come up with a plethora of things to be removed. I remove them, then restart and things run ok, a little slow but much faster than before. I told a friend about this and she told me about "hijack this" and I ran it and she looked at it and said there was something major on here and if I tried to remove it, it would fight back and screw things up worse maybe! SO she told me about this website she uses frequently and that people may be able to help me. So here I am asking for help. I also ran a free registry booter program (http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/lsass/) and it said I had 240 errors but would only fix 15 for free. It wanted me to buy their sofware before removing the 15 errors the free trial came with. I figued I"d give this forum a shot before buying anything.
THis was the log "hijack this" came up with. Any advice???

Hi,
Please wait for a reply from a qualified member (they have a gold shield next to their name). Please don't do anything to your registry unless or until you have expert guidance.

You'll get great help from this forum ...

yes, we installed covenanteyes. It's like net nanny or cyber sitter. It tracks every site visited. We have had Covenant Eyes for a couple years. My comp problems came about in the last month or so. I have no idea what to do about it.

also, I have mcafee (which I have never installed) come up wtih a error that "your computer is working very hard to open this item....." and that the computer is infected yet I have no idea how Mcafee even got on here. I did a search for it and when I try to open it, nothing happens. Of course Norton is useless, what we have no b/c its not even detecting a bug.

Hi cybertech, I think we need an HJT startup list and maybe an uninstall list. It appears user may be running 2 maybe 3 av's (AOL, Norton and McAfee) concurrently ??????

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system.
Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

Updating Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.
  • Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on the download to install the newest version.

Run HJT again and put a check in the following:

O2 - BHO: Need2Find Bar BHO - {4D1C4E81-A32A-416b-BCDB-33B3EF3617D3} - (no file)

Close all applications and browser windows before you click "fix checked".

It appears you have attempted to remove Norton and you don't want McAfee either? McAfee comes with AOL Security.

Run HijackThis and click Open the Misc Tools section
Click Open Uninstall Manager, Save list and save the log to your Desktop.
A list of programs will open in Notepad. Post the contents of the log here in your next reply along with a new hijackthis log.
