My best friend gave this computer for FREE! It works perfectly other than being a little slow. I just got this neat program downloaded but when I tried to connect to someone they said that they recieved a message saying I have a firewall up. I don't remember any firewall being setup and my friend is away. Does anybody know how to uninstall or disable a firewall that I don't know the name to? (I'm using Windows 98.)

Hi ydoc

Welcome to Tech Support Guy Forums!

Download HijackThis 1.99.1:
Double left click on the file and it will install in:
C:\Program Files\Hijackthis
It will create an entry in the Start Menu and give you the option of installing a shortcut on the desktop.
Click on the entry in Start Menu or use the shortcut on the desktop to run HijackThis.
This will allow HijackThis to make backups properly.

Start HijackThis click on Do a system scan and save a logfile.
Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.

Select everything in the log and Copy Paste the results in your Reply.

The log hopefully will show what if any Firewall program you may be using.
