I don’t know what to do

So my computer is a HP G60 running vista and recently the screen has gone pixelated like a 90’s box screen computer. I tried freeing some space thinking it was the processor but to no avail. Any recommendations?

What's the complete model number(M/N) and exact serial number(S/N) and exact product number(P/N) on your "HP G60" laptop?
What Windows Vista version is it running, and is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

Vista premium
No clue on 32 or 64 sorry
Sounds like the color depth got set to 8 bit somehow. Setting is adjusted by slider in control panel somewhere but I’m sorry I haven’t looked at Vista in a while. BTW, you might want to consider a new computer. Vista Support ended last April. Sorry in advance if I overstepped.

You have THIS HP G60-214EM Notebook PC.
It was purchased in April 2009 and came with Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 32-bit and came with these specs:
15.6" display (1366 X 768 native resolution)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 QL-62 2.00 GHz processor
3 GB DDR2 RAM
250 GB SATA hard drive
NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G graphics

HERE is the most current Windows Vista 32-bit driver(307.83) for its graphic device.
If your laptop has an older graphic driver, you might consider updating it.

You didn't say which browser you use, but be aware that all remaining supporting browsers will be dropping support for Windows Vista during the first half of 2018.
You really need to consider moving up to Windows 7 or Windows 10.

I assume I will have to pay to move up to one of those yeah?
There are plenty of refurbished laptops out there with Windows 7 or Windows 10 that you can purchase for $300 - $500.
And they have newer and faster hardware than your HP laptop does.
I've been purchasing nothing but refurbished desktops and laptops since 2008.

Thank you for letting me know and I shall consider upgrading.
I just noticed LIS333 helped you resolve your display issue. (y)

I noticed a Laptop at Best Buy for about $349 with Windows 10, i3 processor, 1 tb drive and 8 gb ram. Includes 1 year warranty. I prefer new on sale to refurbished if price is right. I distribute refurbs but find new less problematic. Also prefer buying locally as returning an online purchase can be expensive and a pain in the lower extremities.

A brand new laptop with Windows 10 for only $349.00?
I wouldn't count on it being very reliable or long-lasting.

A brand new computer comes with a lot of "bloatware", whereas a refurbished one doesn't.
You also get more bang for the buck.

LS333 must be talking about this one https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-i...-1tb-hard-drive-black/5835852.p?skuId=5835852 , has bad and good reviews. Lowest price I have seen for a DELL.
Bloatware is easily removed. A one year warranty and convenience of returning a locally procured lemon (which can happen with new or refurbished) outweighs the perceived benefit assuming price is right. A look at consumer reports would also be helpful. Recent report lists Samsung as top choice of consumers from standpoint of fewest repairs. I like refurbished, however, a lot depends on the the model, the care of the previous owner and how it was refurbished.
