Hi,

i am trying to view video from an archive website. But it says:

"The page “Archivio Storico Istituto Luce” has content of MIME type “application/x-mplayer2”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed."

I have a mac powerG4 OX 10.4 with Quick time.

I do not understand what plug-in is missing.

Recently, a techguy had answered a similar enquiry by somebody else, saying it is a problem of 2 .dll files missing in the PLUGIN folder, under FireFox. But i do not have FireFox in my PLUGIN folder.

And i cannot retrace to techguy message, to write to him direclty or review his message.

Any of you has any idea about plug-in problem?
OR/ANd has anybody seen the techguy message i have referred to?

thanks a lot

Is this one of the pages on the web site that is giving you problems on your Mac?

http://www.archivioluce.com/galleria/sala_proiezione.asp?documentID=1305&episodeID=

If so, the movie you are trying to download and watch is probably a Microsoft WMV file. In that case you may need a third party component for QuickTime:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx

FWiW: I believe that .DLL files are only applicable to computers running MS-Windows.

EDIT: Before I forget, welcome to TSG.

Hi,

thank tyou so much.

I have downloaded Flip4Mac WMV-1.mpkg and installed although i am not 100% sure of it. I have just downloaded and it looks fine. Then if i try to update it, it asks for serial number etc as if i had paid for it. But i just downloaded it automatically from website, it did not ask for payment.

I have tried again archivioluce.com (yes, your ref is correct) and it says the same message.

any further assistance you may have for me? thanks

I am sorry to say that I can not offer any further help. I have not used any kind of Apple computer for over 7 years.

You might be able able to get some more help on TSG by asking a moderator to move this topic to the "Apple Macintosh" forum.
