Hurricane Isabel

With Hurricane Isabel threatening the U.S. East Coast, let us pray that everyone in that part of the country makes it through this hurricane safe and sound. If you live on the east coast, please do not take chances with this storm, and please put your safety first! This hurricane currently has wind speeds at over 125 MPH (205 km/h) and it is rated as a category 3 hurricane! Once you get to a Category 3 or higher, you can expect extensive damage ! If you look at the picture below you can see how big this hurricane is. It’s literally bigger than some states! Please take all the necessary preparations for riding this storm out, including buying plenty of batteries, kerosene, and distilled water. This could well be the worst and strongest storm seen in the landfall area in the past several hundred years, so PLEASE don’t take chances. Our prayers are with you.

Why is this posted in civilized debate?
Maybe I should have entitled it "Hurricane Isabel - Your Thoughts".

Either way, in several days there will be severe damage to the east coast, and I'm sure when we see how people there react, it will be something to discuss ;)
Wet, hope you don't mind the familiarity on my part. I was just asking why it was posted in civilized debate, as opposed to Random Discussion. I certainly don't see anything controversial about it. I'm sure people will want to discuss it. I'm sure a mod would be glad to move it there for you if it makes sense to you to do so.
My intentions are to HELP people. Please understand that. At the time that it was posted I saw no difference between it, and the one about the "WTC - your thoughts". Surely no one would debate about what happened with the WTC as being terrible. The damage that this storm could cause could be very similar, or worse (in scope). I'm not a psychic but I believe that what happens because of this hurricane will become very controversial. Either way I don't care "if" or where it's moved, just as long as the people who visit TSG and that live on, or around, the east coast get to see it, and protect themselves. Again, my intentions are to help people, and for us to come together and to find ways that we can offer assistance to them after it hits and damages the east coast. Thank you.
Yes Isabel is a pain in the arse. I was set to move to a new house on Thursday, the day Izzy is set to hit here. So I've been playing the please game (you know "please please please") to get the movers to do it one day earlier on Wednesday plus rescheduling a number of other workers.

But what really makes it worse is now I have one less day to pack. So while I'm sitting here telling you all this my wife is working twice as hard to get it all done. :D She's a hard little worker, buzzing around here like a bee.
With your intentions for helping others, this thread will get far more exposure in Random than here, which is why I commented in the first place.
Thats going to sting your butt if you don't get over there and help Her! :D ;)

Thank you eggplant43. What you say is true. Sorry I didn't think about it in those terms when it was originally posted. I just worry about everyone here and everyone on the east coast, and all of the terrible damage that this hurricane is going to bring. I was originally thinking about how some would blame the storm on God, and how everyone in this section is talking about that sort of thing (God) so I thought it might be better suited here, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. I'm really worried about this storm. Not only will the 125 MPH winds destroy everything in its path, but there will be severe flooding in the entire 1/3 of the eastern U.S. as far as Ohio and Illinois. People will lose personal family possessions, animals will suffer and die, and what about all of those who are in hospitals and who can't be moved. I'm not looking forward to watching the news. To many people are going to be hurt :(

gbrumb, please don't take any chances and do whatever you need to do to stay safe! And stay close to your wife, with all of her running around I'm sure a hug would go a long way ;)

Hope everyone in harms way battens down the hatches. Good luck to you GB, with your marriage, not the move;)

MLB has some whacked priorities
Back on the net after 2 days of no electric. was going thru TSG withdrawal. Luckily no major damage here but a neighbor had a tree fall on his place. Fortunately no one was home and no injuries.
One day without power here, however, the 40' Bradley Pear tree in the front yard split in half and landed in the driveway. Missed my wifes' car by an inch and just nicked my car. The reason the cars weren't in the garage is it is filled with boxes from our move. Here less then 48 hours and lost a tree.
But neighbor across the street introduced herself and brought us Starbucks (we couldn't leave the driveway cause the tree blocked our way).
Glad you made it, sorry about the tree. Bet it was a pretty one.
