This is a 2nd post by me about this problem.
I have a photosmart 7550 attached via USB. I have install, removed and reinstalled the drivers and software many times. I have installed the xp sp and crittical updates and drives.
THe problem is that when ever the computer is rebooted, the printer is re-detected and the process end with a hardware install error banner....I close this and go about my computing with out problems unless the USB hub is interupted (not sure whats up here) and the hardware is re-detected, then the printer detection and driver install goes into a loop until I reboot.

Any ideas...the reinstalls and updating usb drivers have been done ad-infinitum.

Thanks
George

Hi mayadog,

Are we related ? (kidding).

Windows XP can be cranky with drivers. Have you gotten
the very latest from HP or Microsoft Update ?

Also, the WAY you put the drivers in seems to be sometimes
critical.

Try opening device manager and "updating" the driver
with the latest one.

Another possibility is TRY the driver meant for Win2000.
Sometimes they work when others don't.
