How to get rid of a 'Troyan'?

Dear Friends,
I think I have a troyan in my computer or something alike. When I am away from the comp. it keeps trying to connect by itself to internet. I tried to download spyware doctor but it did not detect anything, neither did Avast.
My pc is WIndows XP H.Ed. I have a dial-up connection.

You may want to know that I have tryied to scan the computer with Spy Sweeper and it gives 'whenu savenow'.
