I had Windows XP Professional installed on my computer, but it wouldn't load anymore, it would just turn black, so I installed Windows XP Home Edition, but kept XP Professional hoping I could salvage some of my programs and files. Now that I have the Home Edition working ok, I'm wondering how to delete the old version.

Also I am having a problem opening some of programs and files that were on my computer before. Since they were in the Program Files folder in the C: Drive I would have thought it wouldnt matter which operating system I was using....

Thanks in advance,
Keith

Delete the Windows XP PRo folder and remove it from the BOOT.INI.

To change the BOOT.INI click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, and then click System.

Your applications will have to be reinstalled to work properly. The reason is the Windows Registry needs to be updated with application setting.
