That's actually a bit of a problem the military has. A lot of people join for the education they can get and don't really want to be in combat so when they are sent you end up with resentful and possibly scared soldiers. I don't think Iraq is the place to be for "weekend warriors".The milatary has a lot to offer as a career.
I enlisted on my 17th birthday. I served two combat tours (22 months, one shortened by injury)ComputerFix said:Oh, and to the question posed....
Enlistment in the military should not be a political decision. If you want to serve in your country's armed forces than do so. Whether one faces risk in Iraq or Afghanistan matters not when the other guys are shooting at you...and be careful if you pull out the "dieing for something" cliche.
If you want to make political decisions, then go into politics.
Lots of others did, and they didn't stop running until they saw the big sign: "Welcome to Canada".So why did you not run during Vietnam?
Out of curiosity (and no, I'm not mocking you or anything), but what stats do you have to show this?pyritechips said:That's actually a bit of a problem the military has. No stats, just what I've heard from people that did it. And I'm talking Canadian military, not U.S.Out of curiosity (and no, I'm not mocking you or anything), but what stats do you have to show this?
Ah, sorry. I didn't realize that you were talking about the Canooks (not a bad term I hope). I won't comment then since I am not familiar with the Canadian military.pyritechips said:No stats, just what I've heard from people that did it. And I'm talking Canadian military, not U.S.
Nope, not a bad term, just spelled wrong! Try: "Canucks"PaveFE said:Ah, sorry. I didn't realize that you were talking about the Canooks (not a bad term I hope). I won't comment then since I am not familiar with the Canadian military.
No thanks! Like I said in my first post, I'm glad I'm in Canada and didn't have to make that choice. I would not willing go to Iraq in any kind of uniform.so if you are candaian place yourself in our shoes
