Here's an old hardware list that you can check.See if your video card is supported.
Get the correct chipset type of your video card and the amount of ram it has and the make and model(or the horizontal and vertical refresh rates) of your monitor and try running(as root) xf86config.You will also need to know the type of keyboard(AT style or ps/2 etc).
