How do I stop QuickTime from starting up each time I boot Win 2000 Pro?

Recently something I clicked on while surfing the internet said I needed to download Quicktime. Like a moron I said ok. Now each time I start my notebook running Windows 2000 professional Quicktime has a little icon on the task tray. I've looked into system.ini, win.ini and startup and I can't find where this little creature is getting its permission to run in the background. I looked into the folder named Quicktime and it has two files in it. qtplugin.ocs and qttask.exe. I love the way these companies get something on your computer and give you no uninstall options and run their stuff at all times. Hopefully I'll get my answer here. Your help is appreciated.

One easy way is you can now use the MSCONFIG.EXE that comes with WindowsXP.

I have a copy you can download at:
http://www.onecomputerguy.com/windows2000_tips.htm#msconfig

Run it, click on the Startup tab and remove whatever you want.
I'm not using XP I'm using Win 2000 Professional. Msconfig doesn't run there.

:( Excuse me for butting in. dlbeck the above URL allows you to download msconfig. I think. :D
Hi, if you are familiar with the windows registry try looking in here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

or

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Thanks for bringing my attention to that. I downloaded and installed it on Windows 2000. Ran it. Found where the quicktime was in startup and took out the check mark. My mistake. Thanks for your help.

Well .... now when I boot up I get this message that I used a system utility to change the normal boot procedure blah blah blah. So it doesn't like it when I check that I don't want quicktime to start up. Any other suggestions. I even went to remove programs but quicktime isn't in there. Why do these little flea bitten software companies do this?
Here is another way to stop almost all programs from loading and I think it is better than MSCONFIG. Use the JV16PowerTools, a freeware found at http://www.jv16.org . This handy tool does many things. You can clean your registry. You can stop programs from starting up. You can uninstall programs with it rather than through the Contriol Panel. And the list goes on and on and on.
