How do I format my hard drive?

I have a a gateway with win 98 i lost all of my programs and i just restorded win 98 but i'm still not loading correctly. would it be worht reformatting my c drive and starting from scratch with my original CD's from gate way?

Did your Gateway come with a restore CD? Most restore CDs do their own format.

yes it did.... and i treid that it still starts funky... wanting to go in the safe mode... but come to think about it it only wants to go back to safe mode when i enable the go back program on the computer. .......... if i run my restoration setup again do you think it will just format my drive again? Would it be worth trying or should i start from the original set-up?
