My problem (this time hehe) is that I find a package, install the program, and then I can't find it. I know they are installed- the last time I installed one I found it just by chance.
Can I browse all apps or search specifically for apps?
I'm using mepis, and there is probably a painfully simple answer so if anyone can help out I would appreciate it!

If the command is in your $PATH you can open a terminal and run the command "whereis appyouarelookingfor". If the command is not in your path you can use the command "locate appyouarelookingfor".

If you're using Gnome you can use alacarte to add an entry into the graphical menu to launch the application.
