I have to make a choice to make between WinXp home and WinXp pro. Is there a major different like it was with Win2000 and Win98? or is the pro version just has more features than the Home version. I mean would I be able to play game and do most of my work on the pro version or I would have problem just like in Win 2000 and have to stick to Win98 for playing game.
This site gives you a good explanation of the differences. Basically, the Home edition is just limited. You can do everything in the Pro version that you can in the Home version but tons more. The site lists the majority of them.
You cannot compare the situation with W98/W2000 to XPHome/XPPro
Windows 98 is part of the Win95 / Win98 / WinME family. All these OS's are evolutions of the same codeline. These products were optimized for home use, strong in games/multimedia, weaker in security/networling
Win2000 is part of the NT3.5/NT4/Win2000 family, which has an entirely different codeline than 95/98/me. These products are intended for business use, strong in security/networking, weaker in games/multimedia
XP Home and XP Pro share the same codeline. Home is basically a limited version of Pro.
