hijackthis log can anyone help?

TSG,
my neighbours have just aquired ADSL and my have been sufing without any anti virus. I loaded AVG for them and it found 2500 infected files !!!! (is this a record?).
It healed all but 16 files so I ran Adaware6, spybot s&d. I also ran CWshredder but came back with a report shown below.

I also ran Hijackthis to see if anything is wrong in the registry
Can TSG take a look and please advise?

(ps also they are not running Freeserve as there isp but this is appearing when they run IE, this may be due to them running a freeserve disk many months ago)

I will run it tomorrow on thier machine, but can you answer why I need to run this anti virus software when I have already used AVG and Adaware6?

That link goes to an online scan, it doesn't install the software on your computer, it runs a scan online.

The reason to use it is because not all virus scanners pick everything up.

The reason it was suggested to run an online scan is that AVG missed these 4, the first 2 are known trojans/viruses but the 3rd & 4th ones are unknown but almost certain to be bad

Reboot into safe mode by following instructions here: http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001052409420406
then as some of the files or folders you need to delete may be hidden do this:
Open Windows Explorer & Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and untick "hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"

Delete these files

search for and delete autoclk.exe probably in c:\windows\system

Looks clear now and if they are not using freeserve any longer just fix these couple of entries

Run hijackthis, tick these entries listed below and ONLY these entries, double check to make sure, then make sure all browser & email windows are closed and press fix checked

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.freeserve.com/iesearch/default.htm

Hi Thanks To ALL

I am the Neighbor that jrwestham has been helping so 1st thanks again to all.
Also to get rid of the Free serve thing i have done it, and it got rid of the task bar saying "provided by Free serve" but still it says it on outlook express task bar also instead of the spinning Globe it is still the free serve symbol can any one help with this?

How can I remove the Freeserve or other ISP logo from the top right corner of the Outlook Express window?
This branding is actually part of Internet Explorer, and you can remove it easily. Open the folder at C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer and delete the entire subdirectory called SIGNUP.

then reboot & restart iE & OE and all the rest of the freeserve adverts should have gone

Yer i done that and it got rid of the freeserve symbol and got back the globe but on oe on the task bar it still has provided by freeserve and a advert @ the bottom have you any idea how to get rid of these? Please

open OE/view/layout & untick infopane

that gets rid of the bottom bit of rubbish

I can't remember offhand how to remove the OE branding will try and search for you
