High pitched noise from speakers

I have been having an issue with my mic.When i plug it into my sound card I get a high pitched noise coming from my speakers.The sound card is a audigy2 ZS Gamers addition.I can also hear myself talking through my speakers when i attempt to speak.Thanks in advance

is the mic to close to the speakers or facing them [this would cause high pitched feedback noise] try moving the mic to a different spot see if that stops it:)
The noise is called feedback, you will get it whenever you hold a microphone close to the speakers that play what the microphone is recording.
Thanks guys for the timely response.I will check it out now and move my speakers away a bit
The high pitched noise seems to go away as i move away from my speakers more.But i can still hear myself talking through the speakers when i talk into the mic.And to have the speakers actually not make the high pitched noise im about 5 feet away from the nearest speaker.Could it be possible that it might be a simple setting.Ive checked all the troubeshooting stuff but had no success.
you need to mute the mic in your mixer playback [are you trying to record something] make sure its not muted in mixer recording:)
