Hi all,

I was wondering what the file path would be for registry startup program Hidserv.exe in Windows 98? Or would it be possible to copy the program then move it? If so...how could I do this?

Thanks a lot

The filepath for Hidserv.exe should be c:\windows\ , it's for USB devices. I suppose it could be moved if you made sure the path to the file was included in a path= statement in your autoexec.bat. I'm not positive it would work though. There probably isn't a registry entry for it, you can open up regedit and do a search for hidserv to make sure.

Thanks gotrootdude,

I have searched for it, but I am missing it. So it is the only thing holding me back from using my USB audio device. Its bassically driving me insane. I have looked all over the internet for it. But i only find hidserv.dll or .inf.... but i need the program. Would me having win95 as the original OS then upgrading to win98 have anything to do with this missing file? Anyplace where i can get this program on the net??

Thanks

With all the posts you have made:

Hidserv.exe run registry question....

NTKERN.vxd and MMDEVLDR.vxd USB Audio Device Troubles....

hydserv.exe/kernel32.vxd troubles

Where can I find hidserv.exe!!!...lost win98 cd...

It appears your Windows installation is corrupt. IF you cannot go into SFC (System File Checker) and fix the missing/corrupted items you need to do a re-install of Win98. Have you tried using Scanreg/restore?

You may need your Win cd in SFC if the removed item isn't still present.

Yup I ran SFC, scanreg/restore, they all fixed other things, but none of them mentioned hidserv.exe. So I geuss i will have to wait until i get my hands on a win98 cd, or if i stumble upon hidserv.exe on the net.

Thanks for your help
