As above how can I open .iso files do they have to be written to disc then opened? I havent a clue!!! Cheers in advance

You don't open them, you burn them directly to a disk using a burning program. The two images below, show how you would do it in Nero. Depending on your burning program, look for the option to burn an image file.

If you have Nero you can use Nero ImageDrive, mount them and they will behave like a disc.
