Also, it took about twenty tries to get it to work. I would bring it up, and it would do the check automatically, automatically save it, and then close it down before I could copy it to paste it into here. A lot of things of this nature have been happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If you have not already done so, go and download Spybot, update it, and run it on your computer before you fix any entries with HijackThis.

HijackThis should be used only as a last resort for cleaning up leftover remnants of hijackers/spyware/trojans and not the first thing that is used. If you use HijackThis to remove entries before another removal tool has a had a chance you will most likely leave the infection on your computer and make it more difficult to remove later.

I have some tutorials on my site for SPyware and Hijackers. Read the one on using spybot and follow those instructions first.

Understanding Spyware and Browser Hijackers

Using Spybot to remove Spyware from Your Computer

How to use HijackThis to remove Browser Hijackers

Hope this helps

Download CWShredder:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/CWShredder.exe
Run and hit the ->fix tab to fix all found problems

CWS takes advantage of security holes in windows so you should install all critical as well as hotfixes available from windows update.

Then download and run lsp fix.exe from http://cexx.org/LSPFix.exe. Open it and click "finish"
Then repost a fresh Hijack this log .

Download 'Hijack This!' http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html and save it to a folder on your desktop.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, load it in Notepad, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

I ran spybot before posting my HJT log. I downloaded and ran CWShredder, and it said there were no problems. the link http://cexx.org/LSPFix.exe said the server could not be found. These problems seemed to start when a new version of Norton Antivirus was put on this computer. I realized too that I put this post in the wrong section - this computer is using Mircosoft ME. Also, when starting up the computer now it says something about not being able to find the DDL file SYMREDIR.DDL.

I can not even effectively get HJT to work because when i bring it up, and after clicking the window that says, "this will create a log of your running programs for analysis," it automatically scans it, tries to save the log, opens up the saved log file, and then closes it - each action occuring within a few seconds of the last.

Rescan and put a check next to each of these then close all browser windows and click "fix checked"

Your recent upgrade install of Norton Antivirus might not have installed properly. If these other suggestions that were made have not helped you, you might try to uninstall Norton from Add/Remove Programs and then reinstall.

Then reboot the system into safe mode and delete each of these:
C:\WINDOWS\wjmtqb.exe
c:\program files\180solutions\msbb.exe
C:\Program Files\ISTsvc\istsvc.exe
C:\Program Files\ClearSearch\Loader.exe
C:\Program Files\Window Active\winactive.exe

How to boot into safe mode

Then post a fresh log when complete.
