Please help someone with my Internet Explorer. It keeps shutting down on me. I do not know why?

Also I have Emachines... Windows XP..
What should be running when I put in msconfig in run and pullup startup? The System Configuration?

That's a very good start also from my experience eMachines arent' good comps their not crap, but they tend to have problems kind of like with WinME as an OS do you get an error message when this happens?

I agree with WYLDFYRE , that you should check out: www.blackviper.com ,but before you do that you should first give us your system info, including any antivirus and firewall programs that you are running.Once we have your info, in as much detail as you can give us. we will help you.

As for your shutdown problem,it sounds like you may have picked up a virus or worm. You should start with an online virus scan from here: http://housecall.antivirus.com/housecall/start_corp.asp[/url]

After the scan ,come back to us and we will help you with anything else you need.

Possibly spyware. Like rude suggests, go and use an free online scan of your machine (if your browser stays open that long).

Then download Spybot S&D, Lavasoft Ad-Aware, CWShredder and HighJackThis. Run each file separately, followed by a reboot each time. When you get to HighJackThis, just scan and then save the log (don't press fixed yet) When you save the log, it will then come up again, this time in Notepad/Wordpad. Copy and paste the log here and we can look at it for you.

Please get Spybot S&D to clear out any spyware.
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=mirrors

Install the program and open it.

Before doing any scanning click Online and Search for Updates .
Put a check mark at and install all updates .
Click Check for Problems nd when the scan is finished have Spybot fix all it finds marked in red .

Then after reboot :
Download 'Hijack This! http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the " scan " button will change into a " save log " button.
Press that, save the log , load it in Notepad, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Hello Everyone, Thanks For the Replies,
I have Emachines.. XP
I have Norton Anti Virus and Firewall.
I never liked Emachines, but it is all my hubby could afford.
I also have Spy Sweeper that Best Buy put on my computer this week, incuding cleaning it out.
Spy Sweeper is like spyware, I think.

EmachinesGal,

Read and do my and Mobo's directions. SpySweeper is a program that detects spyware. Spyware is a program that is created to do harm.
