My son got a new cd game for Christmas. I run XP SP2 with 2.16 GhZ and 512 mb RAM and a 64 mb Video RAM. All of these specs are sufficient for this game. The game box also says I need one of the following chip-sets: ATI Radeon 8500 or greater or Nvidia GeForce 3 or greater. It also says Nvidia GeForce 4 MX NOT SUPPORTED. When I checked Device Manager under Display Adapters it lists "Nvidia GeForce 4 MX integrated GPU". So am I out of luck?? I have an ATI Radeon 9550 256 MB card still in a box. I don't want to open it if it won't work anyway. Does anyone know if this is as simple as just having this new Radeon card installed? Or does the GeForce 4 MX that is already installed rule this out? Inside my computer I have 3 more available black slots and a shorter white slot. As you can tell I'm no expert.

Thanks!!

If you remove the GeForce 4 MX because it's not supported, uninstall the drives and then install the Radeon 9550, I can't see why it won't play the game you're after.

Personally, I'd just install the game now and see if it works.

No, thank you. I've helped heaps of people today (basically all my posts) and you're the first person to say "thanks" Everyone else is to busy trying to fix their problem.

What game is it? You could go ingame then edit the video options to make the game run using less power, and intern reduce system requirements.

Older motherboards you will need to go into the bios and disable the onboard graphics, then set Primary graphics to AGP. Newer boards auto detect a graphic card installed and will disable the onboard graphics itself. But you still may need to set primary graphics in the bios to AGP.
