i am having problems with logging into windows. i get a application error indicating memory could not be written to. i have tried to run in safe mode, reinstall and system restore but none work.

any indication of what app is crashing?

all upon login, svchost, winlogin iexplorer, a couple of drivers load and then it displays error and auto reboots. all w/ same message of can not be written

change any hardware lately?
maybe a ram problem--- test it with this:

nope haven't changed any just installed a antivirus program and then right after starting gettting those errors. i can't even attempt to run the memorycheck program as no matter what i do at the login screen it gives me a error message. i have reinstalled xp, tried recovery and have ran out of ideas.

memtest is installed to a floppy- turn pc with memtest floppy inserted- it will run its tests before windows begins to load-
