Hi, I have visited TSG forums for awhile, just to learn something. You guys are very informative. I now find I have a problem. I have ran Norton AV 2004 and it keeps showing a Threat Alert for Dialer.tibs. When I check the delete box, it comes up with Delete Failed. I checked in the Norton site for action to take, and it says open in Safe-Mode, run scan and delete. I have done this. Still same result. The virus scan shows that the file is at C:\Windows\Download Programs\109554.exe. When I go to that file, nothing is there. Running a search for the file, nothing shows up. I have no icon, or anything else other than it keeps popping up on the virus scan. I don't have a phone line connected to the computer, so if it is a dialer, I assume it cannot dial out. I have no idea where this thing came from. I am using Windows XP home ed. I have all the latest security patches, and cable connection. I also have installed, Spy-bot S&D, Adaware, Spyblaster, and Spywareguard. I have downloaded HiJackthis and am attaching it. I hope someone can guide me in the right direction.

If this is the same file it keeps finding:

C:\Windows\Download Programs\109554.exe

Boot to safe mode and delete that file.

How to start your computer in safe mode

I think the folder it is actually in is C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files

Hi again flrman1, here is my problem. I have ran NAV in Safe Mode and tried to delete that darn file, but it won't. I have tried going to C:\Windows\Download Programs\109554.exe while in Safe Mode, but the file is not listed there. I have ran a search for the file, but it comes up with nothing. So I don't know where it is.
The only place it shows up is in the NAV Scan as a Threat, but won't delete.

Yes, I looked in C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files, but it just does not show up there. I tried running a search for it, and nothing showed up there either. I am stumped.

First click on My Computer. Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and "Hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"

Now Go to Start > Search and under "More advanced search options".
Make sure there is a check by "Search System Folders" and "Search hidden files and folders" and "Search system subfolders". In the "Look in" box choose "Drive C:"
In the "All or part of the file name" box type:

109554.exe

Click Search. See if it is found then.

RogerDodger, in Search, check Advanced Options, then put a checkmark in Search system folders and Search hidden files and folders, then retry; I've searched for things before and they've not come up because they were in system folders.
