HI, I really need help before I have to resort to putting PC into repair shop. I have two OS the same on two parts of hard drive which is called c but when I reformat with start up disk it check C and D, my cdrom is called f my cdrw(which will not work) is E..........but only sometimes .sometimes cdrom is E. I have to defrag every day or there is no space left on hard drive.Direct x will not work as there is not enough colours, only 16 or 2. All this was achieved unknown to me by helpful friends. I want it back to how it was with one OS no partitions ,one hard drive . how do I undo all this. If I try to remove windows on the part of drive called D it says I cannot remove a networked drive. The ethernet contoller does not have a driver, pci does not have a driver the problems are endless.please help

hi, both systems are the same win 98 se, yes I have windows cd, I did not mean to put two OS on, I only want it on once with no partition, avg check results checked something called 'partition table MBR' so it must be partitioned,my daughter did something in ms-dos,then she though she had undone it but it looks as if she did something wrong and created a partition
thanks

ps the two OS are both on the C drive only it calls one OS2 and D. I do not want this partition

If you just want to keep the OS called Windows you can do two things:

Rename the one called OS2 then do a reinstall over the current Windows 98SE in the Windows directory. You will have to go to Microsoft's page to update your security etc but you shouldn't lose any of your data or installed programs.

After the reinstall if there's anything in the OS2 directory you want to retrieve you can do that then completely delete it.

Once the integrity of your OS is established you should be able to get rid of the extra partition using Partition Magic or a similar program.

hi, the only way I can find OS2 is in bios and it will not let me delete it as it says I cannot uninstall a networked drive, but it is not networked as I have removed netwok and it said there was no network to remove. the only way I new this was on my drive was when I used startup disk to reformat due to all the problems I am having it shows up in system check as drive C no problems, driveD no problems,as this was not created purposly I do not know what to do as I realy do not know what is there.

Hi is your fdisk utility still showing that you have an extended or logical partition you can delete? If not it's probably corrupted to the point that a reformat would be the quickest solution. If you know the name of your hard drive you mostly likely can download a utility from them that will reformat and partion the drive very easily and save you a lot of the trouble you're having with fdisk.

hi, fdisk says.................
C:1 status A type pri dos mbyte 2047 sys fat32 usage 21%

I think that should be 100%,can I set the ms dos to default somehow?

It should be at 100% if you only have the one primary partition. FDisk is apparently counting an additional extended partition of 79%. I'm not sure of the default setting, you'd probably lose all the data on the hard drive as it should re-create the primary partition. .

hi, my pc only has applications on it, no data that needs saving as I had to reformat due to helpful friend diabling cdrom and cdrw and being unable to enable them, the only other items on PC are drivers for scanner ect. This is a clean install according to system info,I am sure we removed a partition in dos then though we had better put it back but there does not seem to be one, this was before we re formatted
