Help: PC won't post after 5 gHz OC!
I'm just a complete amateur in Overclocking and I just watched a quick tutorial on overclocking to 5ghz for my FX-6300:
SPECS:
Wooden floor and table, PC sits under table
thermaltake armor mx+ old case
EVGA Supernova NEX650G
650w "80+ Gold" PSU
AMD FX-6300
EVGA GTX-970 SSC
Corsair vengeance 16GB (2 x 8gb) RAM
MSI 970A SLI Krait Edition
(Btw I accidentally put my laptop
HDD (while it was on and everything was plugged and running) on top of my GPU backplate and a capacitor (I think my dad said it looked like one) burned right in front of me and I turned EVERYTJNF IMEDIATWLY OFF) but PC works perfectly fine after, it all happened YESTERDAY)
I used to run on the AMD stock cheap cooler, now I have the:
THermaltake water 3.0 AIO cooling system
Lastly, I run Windows 10 Professional 64x bit
On my:
SeaGate "FireCuda" 2TB (8gb flash?) SSHD
I did exactly as everything that was listed here and "saved and restart" the configuration and turned around and just went straight to the bathroom for a couple mins, after I came back the monitors were on but the lights were flashing on the power button as if it were asleep.
Pressing on it to assume it WAS asleep, nothing! It woouldnt turn on and did other things like holding and pressing the reset button.. nothing happens!
I carefully touched (turning off the power from the PSU and touching the Chassis to ground myself) the water cooler radiator, MOBO heatsinks and GPU. Obviously the heatsinks felt like fire, radiator felt like a 1-2 min touchable microwaved ceramic bowl.
I then put my window fan (those basic window fan) (intake and/or exhaust), both on HIGH and let it blow air on my PC directly on the motherboard without the case cover for about 5 mins and everything felt warm enough to touch.
I did a series of troubleshooting, ranging from: resetting CMOS with the plastic thing to flip it around (just as it says on the booklet) and even tried turning it on while it was flipped.. nothing happens EXCEPT.. my one LED fan on the front flickers ONCE and that's it. Nothing turns on... I tried removing the battery installed on the MOBO and turning it on, doesn't work either.
Also running on just one 8gb stick out of my dual rank 16GB, doesn't work either.
As well as reseating the CPU, carefully removing the watercooling block. Nothing
Unplugged alll the case wires (USB, audio, and including the fans and water cooler. Nothing
All of the resulted in the fan LED light flickering once.
Sadly...
I think my CPU got fried :/

Did you read this part in the manual?even tried turning it on while it was flipped..
At this point, you are going to have to swap parts with known good units ie motherboard, cpu, ram, pw supply.Do not clear the CMOS RAM while the system is on because it will damage the motherboard.
Just for information. Attempting to go from a stock 3.5gig speed right to 5gig speed is beyond ludicrous. Any overclock should be adjusted manually in the bios then checked with prime95 or other stability testing program. You would up the multiplier by [at most] 1 then test for stability. If the system is stable, again up the multi and repeat the stability test.
I have a saying "Do not overclock with parts you cannot afford to replace" All overclocking involves some degree of risk; higher the OC and the higher the risk.
BTW the guy in the video is an idiot. Going from a stock multiplier [which should be 17.5] all the way to 25 for a speed of 5gig is just plain insane. I would up the multi by 1 to 18.5 and test for stability. Vcore or cpu voltage should be raised ONLY when the system fails the stability test and again taking it all the way to 1.65V from stock is just wrong.
Maybe he works for amd and they hope to sell more processorsI was thinking about that too.

Was the overclocking completed at the same time as this unfortunate incident
I was in fact about to post that overclocking to that extent is NOT advisable, but of course I then read the rest of the post
On that processor the FX6300 its normal clock speed is 3.5 its turbo clock is 3.8
The MAX advisable on water is 4.82

However if the capacitor is on the graphics card, as I read it is, then please be aware that it may be the motherboard, as of course if the capacitor blew because of a dead short that would be transmitted through the PCI slot across the bus to the motherboard.
Whatever it is I am sorry to say that it will be very unlikely that it can be solved in a forum situation.
You need hand -on checks from a reliable computer repair specialist

is a most definite NO .I figured it is an IC called "P06P03A - would my motherboard still boot if I removed it
In simple terms - the circuit from start to completion no longer exists.
