I resaved the files and it appears to be working now

help opening txt file
Hi, I am using a windows 8 computer. I need to access some txt files my uni supervisor sent me from his mac, they open however this is what it shows :

I have tried wordpad and microsoft word and the same thing happened. I have also sent it to my supervisor and its not working on his mac either . Any help will be very appreciated as I really don't know what to do and I don't want to lose all of the data for my dissertation.
