Personally, I always go for ATi cards (don't know why) and have never had any problems with them. I can't say anything about nvidia as I've never used one, but the ATi's catalyst centre is very easy to use and the cards are very well-made.

I had a Sapphire X850 Pro in my most recent PC and that now needs to be replaced for a PCI-E slot as my new PC has no AGP's but that's good for a mid-range card. They are rather cheap now so something like the X1600 would be good to go for...looking at the core speed and memory I'd go for the first one on your list.

To schusterjo, the OP asked for AGP cards, the one you pointed to is PCI-E but still looks a good card, I might get one of those as I'm in need of a new one now.

Please read the question as he asked for a AGP card, not a PCI-E card!

To me it is between the 7600GS and the X1600. Looking at the Specs the X1600 seems to win hands down but I'd need to look a review first as they can be misleading!

this is the best card in that price range
BFG Tech BFGR76256GTOCE GeForce 7600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail $143.99

NOTE:
($78.99 after $65.00 Mail-In Rebate)
Even though it's not AGP, that still is an AMAZING DEAL!!! Thanks anyways

According to these charts http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics.html?modelx=33&model1=519&model2=547&chart=225 the x1600 doesn't look like a very good buy, it's almost at the bottom of the chart. Is this true?

Merry Christmas to all of the the people who are nice enough to help me at such a time :)

Well I'm happy to reply cos I'm hoping I'll get some ideas for my next purchase of graphics card. I've been looking closely at the X1600 or higher or the 7600GT/GS as far as I can see the only problem with the 7600 is the 128bit speed? If I'm getting that right.

But as I said before, I'd lean to the ATi as I know I've never had a problem with them. However, I need to be able to not spend too much extra cash (I'll be selling my AGP X850 Pro to fund the new PCI-E card)
