MY COMPUTER WILL POWER UP BUT NOT READING HARDDRIVE OR EVEN BIOS. SCREEN BLACK. THE KEY BOARD WILL NOT LIGHT UP OR THE MOUSE EITHER. WILL NOT READ FLOPPY. CAN'T HEAR HD
WORKING EITHER. I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING THE HARDDRIVE WORKS ON ANOTHER COMUTER. ALL THE FANS WORK AND THE CD ROM TRIES TO READ BUT NOTHING ELSE.
ITS A CHAINTECH MOTHERBOARD CT-7AJA AMD 800 MHZ
MEMORY PC133 256 MB-SB LIVE VALUE-ATI VIDEO CARD.

IT WAS WORKING FINE AND THE STARTED GETTING ERRORS IN REGISTRY IN WIN 98 . IT SAID TO RESTART AND IT WOULD CORRECT. THEN IT JUST WENT BLANK AND I CANT' GET IT TO READ ANYTHING. FLOPPY -CD OR HARDRIVE.

I would suspect the processor is loose or over heating.
Also could be the memory

Reseat the memory and processor into the motherboard
Try different memory if you have it.

this computer was working fine I have had it for 2 years.
I upgraded from 128 ram to 256 ram 1 month age but had no problems. I use nortons anti-virus and had no virus the day before.
I have tried different memory and the cpu is secure and in place.
also before this thing happened the cpu was not getting hot.
I have 4 case fans and 1 on cpu everything works.

I'm at a total loss here.?????????????????????????????

I would concur with redfrost's diagnosis. If all fans are working, no post code beeps and nothing else is happening the CPU is probably dead. Just because it works one day doesn't mean the next time you power it on it will work again. Just to rule out anything else, take out all cards except your video card, memory and CPU and see if it will boot up.
