I've got a problem. My primary "Windows" disk is 64GB SSD and I use 1TB HDD for storage. Whenever is my laptop running on battery, the harddisk will stop working after about 30 minutes of work. This happens every time when on battery. When I play film from HDD, whole laptop will froze and it has to be hard reset. Same with games and other stuff loading from HDD.
When HDD is not used, it stops spinning, which is great. But when it stops working, it won't spin up again. Might there be some driver issues?
My power setings are set to not save any power. Even the "turn off disk after idle" is set to "never".
Some of the newer HDD have power saving mode built in. I noticed that happening on my Desktop and their in a USB external enclosure. However, check your BIOS. There maybe a hardware wide power mgmt that is causing the drive to go to sleep.
