If I have an HD video on my laptop, can I connect my laptop to my 720p HDTV through an S-video cable and not lose any quality? Or do I need another cable such as an HDMI cable??? Or would i need a video converter box in order to convert the video from s-video to HDMI?

s-video will make you lose the picture quality... what other video ports are there?

If VGA I have seen VGA (blue port on laptop) to component. but all have been online. I have not looked but radio shack might have a cable like that

In terms of video quality here is list from worst to best qualitcy:

1) Composite Video ( usually the yellow connector)
2) S-Video
3) Component video ( R,G,B)
4) HDMI/DVI

Most VIdeo sources and video cards now will have HDMI because of Content Protection and also HDMI is 100% digital.

Here is a simple explanation of the video cables: HDMI cables
