Having Trouble With Newly Built PC FPS

790 Views 7 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Daniel.Coleman
So I've recently purchased components to build my first ever pc, but after booting it up on the 8th of December 2021 I've only had about 2-3 weeks of good FPS in games, I was playing and getting just over the 200 FPS mark and now on the same games in getting around quarter of what I used to.
My PC specs are -
Windows 10 Home 64Bit (the unpaid version)
Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor
16GB RAM Dual Channel HyperX Fury DDR4 1330MHz
ASUS ROG CrossHair VIII Dark Hero AM4 MotherBoard
4095MB Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti (SUPRIM)
and 2tb of SSD storage
I've had 2 friends suggest possible fixes but I'm not sure if its correct, my ram may need changing and the other friend said i should buy the paid version of windows 10 because Microsoft eventually caps FPS to make you buy the full version but im not sure how much of this is true.
I'm completely new at any of this pc stuff so any help would be appreciated.
Also if its any help here are a list of the games I play
Arma 3 (modded)
Dayz (modded)
The Hunter Call Of The Wild
Deadside
(All of which used to perform well)
Thanks.

Please clarify what you mean by "the unpaid version" as there is no such thing unless it's an upgrade from Windows 8.1 which cannot be the case with a new build.

Please do the following:

Click the Start button and type Command Prompt in the search box.

Right-click "Command Prompt" in the search results and select Run as Administrator.

At the command prompt, type slmgr /dlv and press Enter.

An image should appear. Please take a screenshot of it and post it here.

OK thanks. You need to activate windows with a valid license before we can offer any assistance. Please do so and run the commands again then post a new screenshot.
Sorry for the late reply. Here is the new screenshot

Where did you get the license key you used to activate? The last report showed "Retail" which it should be and this one shows "OEM" which is a violation of the license agreement on a self-build as it must come pre-installed and sold with the computer.
it was purchased from a 3rd party website
ive also recently upgraded my RAM because a friend suggested it could help, but my FPS in games has since dropped more, also watching movies and shows now displays a green screen but i can still hear the audio.
my friend claims that the change was fine but ive since noticed the sticks of RAM are facing the opposite direction to the way the old RAM was facing.
(the RAM used now is 2x16gb corsair vengeance LPX DRAM)
