Hi, Like to ask what you did to set up AVG- I am guessing it was the bootup scanner that runs in DOS that you had to turn off in the program's settings?
Or was the Compatibility Wiz what you used?

I'm curious, have installed AVG on several pcs running XP Home and NTFS and never saw any errors like this.

Hi, Here is a very brief explanation of the problem- you may see this error in the future.

http://www.techspot.com/vb/showthread/t-10114.html

There was/is a typo in your first post, NTVDM is how you spell it.
Some of the sites I was reading about the error do say that a corrupt file can cause the error.... redownloading and trying again is the thing to try first, as you did.

So, glad you fixed it! If it recurs- have you gotten the service pack for XP yet? SP2 is due out very soon if not already out...which may contain some kind of hotfix for the problem.
