Hi
Recently my main hard disk has been failing, during normal pc usage i would get a blue screen with varying statements like 'kernel in page stack error' etc. Then when i reboot my machine the bios wont detect the disk and i have to boot from cd into the recovery console to run a chkdsk recovery as there is always an error on the drive after a blue scrn and write a new mbr etc. Any help plzzzz??!

Regards
Jon

Buy a new drive and install you os on it. Slave old drive and try and recover data on the drive. With the drive failing, you are just wasting time trying to fix it. You can try the mgf's utility for checking the drive; sometimes it can repair some problems. Even if you get it repaired, you will need to install a new drive soon anyway.

Hello eddieraver Your hard drive could be over heating. I had a similar problem no blue screens but when i restarted the system It came up Master hard drive failure. If i switched the system off for 5 to 10 mins and the system booted fine except the hard drive developed bad sectors. So all important data went on my other system hard drive.

For the utility you need to go to the mgf of the drive ie Maxtor, Western Digital, IBM, etc. They will have a diagnostic available for download.
