Hard Drives Vanished!

I have this problem that came out of nowhere. I opened My Computer and everything vanishes from the screen. All the hard drives and CD drives had just disappeared. All that there is on the screen is the Control Panel icon and the printer properties icon. I can still access the drives if I used a shortcut or typed the drive in manually in the address bar but the drives don't show up in My Computer and when I want to open a file using a program.
