I have noticed recently when undertaking google searches, that the search results have a green tick placed next to them indicating the site is safe. When the cursor is hovered over the tick, an AVG pop up indictes that the site is safe.

Is there a way of turning off this function?

Thanks:)

Why do you not like the safety feature?

It's most likely AVG Link Scanner

Download the AVG 2011 Free Edition installation package from our website. (If you still have the installer downloaded, you do not have to re-download the installer)

Run the installation file by double-click.

Proceed through the installation wizard and in the Select Setup Type window please select the Add or remove components option.
Then proceed through the steps of the wizard to reach the Component Selection window and uncheck the LinkScanner component.

Afterwards complete the rest of the steps of the installation wizard. The LinkScanner component will be removed from AVG.[/webquote]

Hi, Then you have an answer. There are other standalone or built in scanners like that, McAfee makes Site Advisor, and there are others, like Web of Trust (WOT) You should use just one at a time, though.

They absolutely will make life a lot easier for users of the Internet once you detail how it works to them.

Saves guesswork and possible side affects! Have a great holiday season, if you celebrate.
