I recently got GTA3 but it was very sluggish and jerky. I figured out it is probably cos my graphics card isn't good enough. That sound right? So how easy is it to install a new graphics card? Could an absolute novice do it, given some step by step instructions? And is there anything I should be aware of when I am choosing a new one. Like, will only some types fit into my pc or whatever. Any help would be verrrry appreciated. Thanks.

We'll need to know what kind of system you currently have (PC Make & Model number or Motherboard make & model).

This is so we can figure out what your system can take for an upgrade.

Next major thing..CASH..How much are you willing to spend?

A decent video card that will run most of the current games well will start at about $125+.

It's not that hard. You need to be careful of static and those things, but beyond that its pretty much a matter of plugging it in the computer and the installing the drivers.

You need to find out if your computer has an AGP slot. It's usually a brown connector thats a little shorter than the PCI slot.

Once you find out if you have an AGP slot or not, you can choose between a PCI and AGP video card. If you can, always buy AGP graphics cards...the PCI bus is alot slower than the AGP bus, so an AGP card will be significantly faster than the same model with a PCI connector.

Thanks very much for your help. Here are my system specs, hope they are what you want.

AMD Athlon Processor 1.3 GHz
120Mb RAM
Windows XP

My current graphics card is:
S3 Graphics Prosavage Compaq 8Mb

GTA3 needs a recommended 32Mb, so that's what I was gonna go for. They seem relatively cheap on Ebay.

How do I find out if I can get an AGP one?
