Graphics Card problem

I assume you mean AGP or PCI-e slot, not DVI. As far as not working, you probably need to enable it in the BIOS. If you connect using the onboard and go into BIOs, there will be an option somewhere ( if you have the manual look there, otherwise its a case of looing through all the settings), to change the primary output, usually between onboard, PCI, and PCI-e or possibly AGP. If you change this to PCI-e, all should be well.
If you can find out what your mobo is, can have a look see and try and find where the setting is

I tried both options that u suggested but neither worked and then my system 32 file corrupted or went missing so i had to reformat my hard drive. I understand that isnt your fault so im not blamming you or anything but any other suggestions?

The setting you should use is pci and then auto so that if there is a pci card in that would take precedence but if you have tried all the settings and are certain the card worked on another computer, we can assume the agp slot is either NG or different than the card. If it were older, there is a different voltage card for Agp 2 so we need to know the board specs to help any further.
