burnt old graphics card, so got new one. but new card makes a lot more noise (cant get to sleep). moving comp isnt a option and need to leave comp on overnight for downloading etc. so how can i just turn my graphics card off and leave the rest of computer running as normal?

I dont think you can set it to do it automatically but you could technically turn it off manually through device manager. Ive never heard of anyone doing this before so DONT DO IT YET. Please let someone else post behind me and confirm whether or not this will affect your system in anyway I dont see why it would but I could be wrong.

yep guess best luck is to just replace the fan, one more question the fan for my old ati graphics card works fine, so could i just put that one an my new card (old one is much quiter). only difference between my old and new card is that old one was a ati radeon 9800 pro 128 mb memory, and new one is ati radeon 9800xt 256 mb memory, so could i still use my old fan on the new card?

Swapping fans should work if they are same size and same mounting type. I replaced the heatsink and fan on my AIW Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB without much difficulty.
