Grafic card having a full on battle with screen!

So my grafic card is having a fun time changing the resolution on my screen to 1920x1080p, but my screen is old so it wants it at 1600x1200p. So the problem is that my screen switches between these two resolutions and my screen turns black and then back to the normal screen, witch makes my screen flicker balck and then back untill i restart my computer and pray to god that it stops at a resolution. With this problem its very hard to play games or browser the internet since i cant controll my mouse and half of the time my screen is black, i want to know what is cousing this problem to happen in the first place and if i can fix it without buying a new screen.

Try a lower resolution.

First of all, you are posting in a hardware forum and no one [other than you] has any idea what hardware you are running. Post ALL of your exact system specs. This utility will help with most [however not all] specs. Run it and post the output here;
