GPU error

My laptop screen experiences a horizontal flicker every 2 seconds (the flickering can happen faster if I set the refresh rate to 144Hz). I checked the NVIDIA control panel and it says 'There are no displays connected to this GPU.' I have tried setting the screen to run on the VGA, but it still only runs on the onboard graphics. When I opened the bottom of the laptop, I noticed the GPU and CPU had dark spots that looked like they had been exposed to moisture, and the cables near the GPU showed signs of possible damage. Before this issue occurred, I never exposed the laptop to a humid environment (I always kept it on a laptop stand) or experienced any impact (the laptop's bottom case is still intact). Please help me find the issue and possibly a solution. Thank you.!

1. Please provide on your reply as indicated in the banner above your post
Please click the link below for your operating system to download the TSG SysInfo Utility. Click on "Save File" then double-click the file to run it. Copy and paste the report in your initial post. Windows 7 and later (downloads a file named tsginfo.exe)
2. Include please the make and full model details of the laptop and a link to your laptop on the manufacturers site eg HP Dell etc.

3. I do not know if anyone else can see it but I cannot see damage to CABLES on your image
those black coloured tube like articles are heat pipes - conducting cold air in from inlets in case and warm air out to oulets in case

Cheers
I will have a look at it
In the meantime connect an external monitor, connect the power supply and see if you can then use the Nvidia graphics chip on the external monitor

How long ago did this problem start and have you had any warning messages appearing

I see you have the latest BIOS
I think your warranty has just expired in August
Aug 3, 2024
I suggest you try and install the driver from Acer for the 3050

If I may chime in while Mac is offline;

Correction Mac is back :)

Download then run Speccy ( free ) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.

In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.

Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box

Can you try my suggestion I made in post 6 and asked again in post 9

additionally check in BIOS - UEFI if there you have the facility to configure - discrete graphics
as a BIOS update previous to the BIOS you have enabled that

1. Support Discrete mode switchable.
BIOS1. Support Discrete mode switchable. 2. Fix CapsLock and keyboard scan code delay problem. 3. Update brightness table. 4. Update board ID.Acer2022/03/111.02
and each more recent BIOS encompasses all changes of previous BIOS updates.

You are welcome but I don`t want to muddy the water by chiming in over Macboarmaster so will just leave you with the below;

Operating System
Windows 11 Home Single Language 64-bit
Computer type: Notebook
Installation Date: 8/13/2024 12:28:36 PM
The recent Windows 11 installation at the risk of appearing rude is what I refer to as a lazy instal, referred to as such because instead of manually installing the system drivers Windows 11 has just been allowed to run on generic drivers and the only drivers that Windows 11 has actually installed have been for the Realtek audio and one that Acer do not even provide which is for a Realtek Camera, how and why it needed to have been done is explained in my canned info below;

Once Windows has been clean installed you must then install first the MBs chipset drivers then the storage/SATA drivers and third the graphics drivers, the drivers can either come from a disk provided by the motherboard manufacturer ** or downloaded from their site and saved to a flash drive etc, this is a must and Windows should not be allowed to check for updates before it has been done as more often than not Windows installs the wrong drivers or in the incorrect order and this can cause all sorts of problems.

The reason why this procedure is so important, the chipset is what enables the MB to be able to communicate with all the hardware + are the first drivers that Windows looks for on boot.

** For OEM computers/notebooks such as Acer, Dell, HP and Lenovo etc you must only download drivers from their support page, OEMs may sometimes redirect users to a third party site such as AMD or Nvidea to obtain the latest drivers for their GPUs, this however tends to be for high end gaming notebooks and desktops though

Yeah, I tried outputting to another monitor, but the error didn’t occur on that screen

I asked
and on that external monitor was it then using the 3050
and you replied

yess, it's due to the screen or the cable, right?
If the display on the external monitor is good and it is then using the 3050

then on the evidence available a setting somewhere is wrong and on the laptop screen it will therefore only use the integrated Intel IRIS graphics, as shown on your post 3
Graphics Card: Intel(R) Iris(R) Xe Graphics, 2047 MB

as to the apparent horizontal flickering on the laptop screen on those integrated graphics you cannot run 144 refresh
Intel Core i712700H Processor 24M Cache up to 4.70 GHz Product Specifications

which is what you want for setting use of 3050 NOT the Nvidia control panel
The error occurs even when I set it to 60Hz, but the time between flickers is slower, and I can't find the PDF document for Nitro Sense. Can you help me find it? Thanks, sir!
When I play some games, they still use the GPU, but the FPS seems lower compared to when there were no issues (as I perceive it)

well i am puzzled it is for you laptop and it says on page 46
Click the Settings icon to change settings for your Nitro system.
You can enable/disable Sticky keys or Windows and menu key.
Display temperature can also be changed by Temperature units.
Enable Discrete GPU only can let you get a better experience in
game.
and shows you an image of the screen

Have you read that it also says
Note
If the AC adapter is disconnected or if the battery charge is lower than 40%,
operating mode options will be disabled

So what should I do now, when NitroSense doesn’t have that setting? In BIOS, the display setting only has Optimus. I’ve tried searching Acer’s forums and found a similar post from 3 days ago, with the same model and GPU, but there’s no solution

TRY THIS FIRST
Going back to the Nvidia Control Panel and this time clicking on the left pane
Manage 3D settings
Right-click on the desktop and select “NVIDIA Control Panel.”
2. Click on “Manage 3D Settings.”
3. Select the “Global Settings” tab.
4. Under “Preferred graphics processor,” choose “High-performance NVIDIA processor.”
and then test what it is using

IF that does not show it is using Nvidia try this
check in BIOS settings where you say Optimus is shown and see if the option is
disable
or disable and an option for choosing to configure integrated or nvidia
if only disable is available try that
