Google critical security alert - Suspicious app detected

6676 Views 13 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Cookiegal
I have had it where since the 10th of February, I have a Google security alert where it says that my account might be at risk and "suspicious app detected". The screenshot that I have attached is my own computer and is signed in to my Google account. I have changed my password to make sure.

How do I go about removing this alert?

I honestly don't know. I thought it was strange that there is something still there. I reckon it is something that is a safe app but where Google hasn't recognised it yet.
Download FRST again and post your logs in the topic at the Malware Removal Forum please.

Download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop. --> IMPORTANT

Note: You need to run the version compatible with your system. If you are not sure which version applies to your system download both of them and try to run them. Only one of them will run on your system, that will be the right version.

If your antivirus software detects the tool as malicious, it's safe to allow FRST to run. It is a false-positive detection.

If English is not your primary language, right click on FRST.exe/FRST64.exe and rename to FRSTEnglish.exe/FRST64English.exe
  • Double-click the FRST icon to run the tool. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Press Scan button and wait for a while.
  • The scanner will produced two logs on your Desktop: FRST.txt and Addition.txt.
  • Please attach the content of these two logs in your next reply.

What does that "Review and Secure" button reveal? Is it something you recognize?
It doesn't even reveal a name of an app, so I do not know what it is.

On that third screenshot, on the right of the string "Device with suspicious app" click that "Details" link and see what it says. If this wasn't you, follow along with the instructions under there.

This is all I get.

They are already involved in a malware removal thread and it's best not to have two threads ongoing for the same issue so I'll close this one now.
