Gigabyte ga-b85m-ds3h-a ssd upgrade slot?

1434 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  crjdriver
Hello! I have the Gigabyte ga-b85m-ds3h-a motherboard, and was hoping to install an ssd card. Stupidly, I bought one before confirming that my motherboard could support it. I now have a WD black SN750 SE, but I can't find a place to put it.

Am I missing something obvious, or should I have bought something else?

That board does not have a M.2 slot. You would need an adapter like this one in order to use the M.2 drive.
Dual M.2 to PCIe Adapter, RIITOP M.2 NVMe SSD to PCIe Adapter & NGFF (B+M Key) SSD to SATA Controller Expansion Card for 1x NVMe SSD and 1x NGFF (SATA Based) SSD - Newegg.com
Note you would not be able to boot from the drive ie all you can use it for is storage or installing programs.
FWIW I would not use an adapter. Either return the drive OR upgrade to a motherboard with M.2 support. Up to you.
Alright, thanks. I'll look into motherboard upgrades and maybe check on the return policy. Guess I learned my lesson about buying before researching! Thanks for the help!
You are welcome.
