Short answer: you need to wait about 6 months.
Slightly less short answer:
a) You also need to submit your website to search engines (http://www.google.com/addurl/ - and you'll be able to find other submit to search engine links - just search "submit website to yahoo/msn/search engine" etc
b) You need to get other websites linking to yours - link exchange and stuff like that
c) wait 6 months!

:) hope it helps

It doesn't take six months, just do the standard SEO to make it work fast.

My website was tracked in about 1 week:

1) Make sure you have your META tags setup correctly.
2) Make sure you page content is relevant
3) Make sure you have search engine friendly URLs (i.e. /blog/news/1231232.htm instead of /index.php?p=news&id=2378324&this=that...)
4) Get some links exchanged, the more links you have out helps, and the more links you have in helps, this boosts what google sees as your overal contribution to the internet.
5) Use some tools to make you site more friendly to search engines. webCEO is a great on, and it's free.
6) Use webCEO to submit your site to over 500 search engines and directories
7) Signup for google webmast tools and analytics, submit a sitemap to google.

I am sure there are some more things you can do, just can't think of them right now.

Here are some sites you could try searching for in google, they are examples of sites we have done that have appeared in google within 1 week:

www.ccut-designs.co.uk - search for "sharp recruit + harry"
www.voicesforhorses.co.uk - search for "equestrian community + voices"
www.getactivenow.org.uk - search for "get active now"
www.lqdinternet.com - search for "lqd internet"

Hope that gives you a bit more insite into getting lsited on google.

Harry
