I'm having this problem with downloading the new version of Windows Defender and Media Player from Microsoft.com Genuine Advantage and was wondering if it anyone else had it too. First I thought it might be because I'm using Firefox, but it doesn't work for IE either.

When I go to the site to download it refers me to the page where I download the Validation ActiveX control, but then nothing happens. So I click the alternative method link, and click continue on the next page and get a "Page Cannot Be Displayed". What am I doing wrong?

In IE go to "Tools" >> "Internet Options"

Select the Security tab

Click on "Custom"

Be sure "Download ActiveX Controls" is set to either "Enable" or "Prompt" and "Run ActiveX Controls and Plug-ins" is set to "Enable".

I enabled all the necessary security switches and ran that diagnostic. It said I failed "Microsoft Activex Controls Loading" so I clicked the "Resolve" button, and it takes me to a page that tries to reload the controls. But nothing happens again, I don't get a prompt or anything.
